We only eat what we have on hand so if you want to eat better, you need to ensure the health of your food source reflects that of how you wish to eat. Get the basics right and your health will be greatly compliment your fitness & workout routinehelping to achieve a better looking & feeling you.
Where to start
Oils – Coconut, olive, flaxseed and hemp
Nuts & seeds
Herbs & spices
Tinned tomatoes (if fresh are not available but make sure they only contain tomatoes & tomato juice)
Legumes, beans and pulses (both dried & tinned; perfect if you are short of time)
Sweeteners – no not sugar, think agave, maple syrup, rice malt syrup or honey (if you are not against the workings of bees)
Nut butters (especially almond, cashew and macadamia)
Grains & Groats; brown rice, quinoa, millet, barley
Sea or Himalayan salt
Hemp seeds (although not legal to consume in Australia & NZ)
Superfoods;
Cacao powder
Mesquite
Maca powder
Spirulina
Dried fruits (natural sugars)
Vegetable bouilion
Savoury yeast flakes (B12 and cheese substitute for vegans)
Tea
Peppermint – aids digestion
Chamomile – relaxation
Nettle – mineral rich pick me up
Green tea (including matcha) – high in antioxidants
Fresh fruit & vegetables including an abundance of green
You need to start somewhere when it comes to your food choices and if you have the above as your starting point then you certainly on the right track.
