Following on from our ‘are you ready for your spring detox’ blog, how are you feeling about your vegan diet plan?
Simple changes in your diet can have significant results; more energy, brighter skin, healthier hair not to mention weight loss. In order to achieve all of this, what should be included in your diet?
- Real food
- Clean foods
- Organic & biodynamic foods
- Good fats
- Plenty of water
- Good bacteria (as found in kombucha, yoghurt and coconut kefir)
And what should be avoided:
- Bad fats such as trans & saturated
- Highly processed foods
- Refined sugars & flours
- Fast food and yes that includes a bacon & egg muffin!
With the days getting longer, the sun brighter and the air warmer not only can we visually see the change, we can hear and feel it. The energy of the world suddenly engulfs us and with that, the foods we eat automatically become more energizing and nourishing.
We need to listen further to our bodies’ request for cleaner foods and with the seasons changing so does the foods available at the markets. If you visit your local farmers market for your food haul here is a glimpse of what you will likely see:
- Asparagus
- Asian greens
- Beetroot
- Broad beans
- Broccoli
- Cabbages
- Cauliflower
- Kohrabi
- Leek
- Lettuce
- Peas
- Spinach
- Spring onions
All of the above are perfect fuel for vegan athletes and the like and the options for meals are endless: raw salads in particular dressed in a quality extra virgin olive oil or even a combination of hemp seed, flaxseed and pumpkin seed oil really suit the spring time.
Now that spring has sprung, we encourage you to enjoy the great outdoors and even better food or as we like to call it, Fit Fuel.
