There is no better time than now to take your morning warm lemon water ritual to a new level with the anti-inflammatory and detoxing powers of ginger & turmeric.
With health promoting antioxidants to help detoxify your liver, blood and kick start digestion this is one morning routine you will be jumping out of bed for.
Lemon Ginger Turmeric Tea
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh turmeric root* or ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger root
- 2-3 twists of black pepper (to increases turmeric’s bio-availability)
- 1 cup filtered water
- Juice of ½ lemon
- 2 teaspoons rice malt, maple or agave syrup (optional)
Method
Combine turmeric, ginger, pepper and water in a saucepan on medium-high heat. Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes making sure it doesn’t boil.
Strain the liquid and pour into your favourite mug or take away cup. Add lemon juice and natural sweetener and give it a good stir.
*Fresh turmeric can be purchased from specialty grocers but handle with care, it stains yellow!
