Friday Favourites – Chocolate
That’s right even as a vegan you can eat chocolate but its not any ordinary chocolate its chocolate in its purest form with quality ingredients added- this is how chocolate is meant to be eaten. You can thank me later for this list and your new addiction to a food product that is smooth, flavoursome and moorish in taste.
Five favourites; Chocolate
Madecasse
What a beautiful story this is, Peace Corps volunteers in Madagascar and after falling in love with the country they wanted to do something more to help it. Madecasse was born and created in collaboration with a local manufacturer. I found the Sea salt & nibs in my local bottle/convenience store so this chocolate is not just for speciality stores that you can never find. Look out for this chocolate, as the packing says – bean to bar in Africa. Fair Trade and Vegan.
Vegan Delights
Handmade in Queensland this chocolate is vegan, natural and (non) utterly delicious. If you can’t find it in your local, you can order this goodness online and it comes in a variety of flavours; Rose Turkish delight, Peanut brittle, Cookies and cream, White chocolate rice puffs, White chocolate with cacao nibs and White chocolate with coconut. Australian made and vegan, its time to support local.
Hunted + Gathered
Born and made from a small scale operation, this company loves to experiment and who gets to benefit from this, we do! Not only is the packing eye catching and sophisticated its made from start to find from the bean. All organic ingredients. No soy, dairy or gluten plus you can also buy this product online. Flavours include: Dominican Republic 70%, Ecuador 70%, 85% (BOOM!), Sesame seed, Fennel seed, Mint + Cacao Nib, Macadamia and Coffee.
Pana Chocolate
With a resume that reads: Raw, Organic, Handmade, Vegan, No Dairy, No Soy, Gluten Free and No Refined Sugar if you see this chocolate, buy, buy, buy! Its bitter, rich, smooth and comforting and one or two small blocks (of chocolate not the bar) is something all you need to satisfy that sweet craving. This was certainly one of the first raw chocolates we discovered and its long been placed in our shopping basket. The flavour of the month for us; Fig and Orange. Other flavours include: Coconut & Goji, Pineapple & Ginger, Sour Cheery & Vanilla, Mint, Raw Cacao (60%), Nuts, Cinnamon, Eighty (yes 80%), Hemp & Nib, Orange and Rose.
Loving Earth
Where do I begin with this raw chocolate? Can Sugar Free, Dairy Free, Vegan, Gluten Free, Low GI and Fair Trade its pretty impressive for a chocolate that is made here in Melbourne.
