How to be fitter, musclier and sexier in 2019
We are a third of the way through the first month of the year and do you still feel like you are playing catch up from 2018? Sometimes I have wished for a pause button on life, a moment where I can step off in order to regroup, regather and refocus but that would just make life too easy wouldn’t it now?
At the beginning of the year someone in passing wished me ‘smooth sailing’ for the year ahead, although I was appreciative of the sentiment, I realised ‘smooth sailing’ doesn’t really work for me, I am defiantly a more of a ‘rocky road’ kind of girl. Why you ask? Because challenges grow resilience and resilience grows strength.
I made the conscious choice a while ago to avoid where possible becoming complacent with my life, I wanted to create some sort of manageable unrest in order to see what I could learn and experience. I am certainly not one to throw all caution to the wind, I do have my limitations but I live my life exploring new opportunities and always having to think outside the box to uncover something new about myself and the environment I live in.
Living a Planted Life can be seen as adventurous, out there and risky especially when it comes to your health but for me nourishing and fuelling with a vegan planted diet is nothing but smooth sailing. I have followed a plant-based vegan diet for over 25 years and with each new year, I am becoming stronger, healthier and what seems, younger.
The health benefits of a plant-based diet are vast and here are some of the comments you will hear from the vegan community about how they feel and think when adopting a Planted Life:
- Feel like a superhero
- More compassionate
- Guilt free
- Feel lighter and cleaner
- Life has purpose
- Run faster
- Fitter, musclier
- Belly smaller
- Eat as much as you want
- More energy
- Sex daily
- Improved vision
- Hair becomes thicker and shinier
- Nails become stronger
- No colds or flu’s
- Not feeling gross after eating
- Healthier
- Happier
Eating a vegan plant-based diet is about making the most of the colourful array of fruits & vegetables, grains, legumes, wholegrains and beans including healthy fats, nuts, seeds and avocado. Think of going vegan as eating the rainbow and then feeling as bright and colourful as the rainbow.
There is still much confusion when it comes to the principles of a vegan plant-based diet but fundamentally aplant-based diet is about good nutrition, eating right and eating well.
- Eat a varied and balanced diet
- Eat brightly coloured fruit and vegetables including green leafy vegetables
- Eat a wide variety of wholefoods
- Consume adequate fibre
- Reduce your salt intake
- Limit your consumption of processed foods (they contain high amounts of salt, sugar and hydrogenated fats)
- Avoid consuming too many foods rich in carbohydrates such as pasta and bread (but don’t become a carb-o-phobe)
- Choose foods containing monounsaturated fats: olive oil, canola oil (non-GM), avocado, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamias and almonds
- Include omega-3 fatty acids in your diet: flaxseed, hemp seeds, spirulina
- Consume plant-based proteins; soy products, beans & legumes
- Increase your water consumption
- Include fermented foods in your diet; kombucha and fermented vegetables
- Add pseudograins to your meals; quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat
My Planted Life
Planted Life has become and is very much MY LIFE and with this, I want it to become part of yours too. The philosophy is part of who I am, who you can be and this is about a sustainable, balanced and mindful approach to health and wellness, food and choice of lifestyle diet.
Sustainable being a food system that helps enhance a community’s environmental, economic and social wellbeing. It’s important to know about the source of the foods you consume; how it’s grown, stored, distributed and where it is sold, the process from plot to plate.
Balanced eating a variety of nutritionally dense foods that promotes sound health and helps protect against and prevent chronic diseases to see you live a quality fruitful life.
Mindfulness is the sixth sense after taste, smell, touch, sound and sight that helps influence how you feel on a daily basis and in turn how you then go about your day-to-day activities. Being mindful of how to nourish & fuel your body for work, rest and exercise as well as developing an awareness and appreciation for the food journey.
Planted Life is about assisting you on your health and wellness journey ensuring you are making a sound investment in your immediate health and life longevity. We are about MIND | BODY | FOOD and in 2019 are you ready to step up and adopt a new lifestyle diet choice?
