MIND | Meditation Practice
How much is my mind making up | what actually is my body experiencing
Do you believe your fitness capabilities are defined by your physical strength alone? Or does your mental strength have a part to play in how far you excel in your active lifestyle?
The relationship between mind and body is very much in the fore front of our consciousness. We are eager to learn more about the connection between meditation and running; training the mind and training the body to help develop the fundamental principles to increase power and endurance. Despite the movement of the body, to run within yourself is to quieten the mind – to engage and be active all the while to deepen thoughts, in turn calming the mind. Be still monkey mind, stay focused, comfortable and strong with your technique.
Meditation
A practice to help tame the mind
The definition of meditation is “to engage in contemplation or reflection; to engage in mental exercise for the purpose of reaching a heightened level of spiritual awareness”. Meditation is about taming the mind, training yourselve to help reduce stress, quieten (but not stop) the never ending internal conversations and to bring the focus of the mind to breath.
Breath
Your breath helps ground you
Breath helps circulate the life force throughout the whole body and through mindful meditation you focus on the rhythmical flow of your out and in breath not the discomfort in which you can at times experience when challenging the body in physical movement. Breath is your pacifier, your peace keeper and the one tool you can use to bring your attention to a point in order to limit distraction.
Journey of the MIND
Change occurs when you are consistent with your practice
Planted Life are continually exploring the correlation between mediation and breath to help with achievement all the while having you comfortable with the discomfort that personal challenges present.
Amanda studies the practice and structure teaching of meditation with Lifeflow and incorporates the tools of these learnings into athletes training plans to help them adopt greater mindfulness in their daily lives and endurance goals.
