Moving consciously into 2022
And suddenly the clock ticks over the midnight and everything is reset and good again. Isn’t that what we would like to think?
From October onwards you hear people say, ‘I can’t wait for this year to be over so I can start again next year’; these words always make me reply with a swift ‘what’s waiting for the new year going to do, start again now’.
I do get it; we need new parameters and boundaries, and this is what a new year brings but I always remind myself (and others) that if I/you wish to see change why wait? There is no time like the present.
The change of the year is a good marker to reflect and reset and to look at some of the things that have been annoying you for the past 12 months and been to be preoccupied (lazy) to change. Do you receive an email in your inbox and immediately delete before even opening/reading? Yes, then from our list below you need to take 2 and go in an unsubscribe – you don’t need that task in your life for the year ahead.
We have mindfully been thinking of actions we wish to change/adopt in 2022. They include:
- Unsubscribe from mailing lists that no longer serve you
- Be hyper aware of your phone scrolling habits
- Tune into the conversations on repeat in your head
- Say ‘yes’ more when it comes to trying something outside your comfort zone
- Identify individuals/businesses that make your heart sing
- Embrace all your emotions even the ones that make you cry
- Run in the rain when you have the opportunity
- Listen to your gut (it really is your second brain)
- Hug those you care about the most on a regular basis
- Say I love you to yourself each morning upon waking
Recognise its your choice
We all have a choice, right? As George Michael wore on this t-shirt back in the 80’s – Choose Life.
Present day and I am seeing life as the opportunity that it is, for me it’s taken me more than a few decades to figure this out and although I am still trying to get my head around this crazy notion, I am excited with this change of mindset and what it is bringing to me daily.
How I have established change
- Journaling (including gratitude & manifestation lists)
- Daily meditation
- Acceptance of the now
- No giving a shit (*within limit of course)
- Seeing myself as worthy
I have honoured myself with the acceptance of now as well as recognising the path I have walked (or run) to get me to where I am now. I cannot change the past, but I can certainly choose how I move into the future by working on the now.
I am striving to find appreciation in my daily tasks even those that involve cleaning! I am moving with a purpose that is seeing me view the world in a different way; I am certainly far from living the simple life but the life I am living is one that is richer than all the banks combined.
The resolutions
People are divided when it comes to new year’s resolutions, there are those who set them with much promise and commitment and those who wonder why people set them at all as most never come close to achieving any of them.
Me? I don’t set resolutions but goals – goals that although have moving goal posts they are set with more than a year to achieve them. Sure, some definitely have an expiry date but most are life resolutions and goals that help keep me focussed and somewhat accountable.
To share with you some of my 2022 goals [resolutions]
- Wake up for 6am yoga at least twice a week (even in winter)
- Build on my strength, agility, and mobility
- Run with greater trust of my body
- Speak kind words in my head as opposed to the opposite
- Eat less carbohydrates after midday
- Continue to walk the meditation path
- Understand further my bodies energies by stabilising my chakras
2022 for me is about looking inwards more and recognising the person I am and the person I am striving to be while staying authentic to me; this will never change.
Grounding into your Planted Life
The past 18months have been very unpredictable, unsettling, and frustrating – nothing is ever guaranteed, and we never have control over anything and no more so than in 2020 and 2021. Unfortunately, it seems 2022 isn’t going to be any different, well not now anyway.
The greatest lesson you can learn is patience and acceptance; these two traits have become the ethos of Planted Life; they are helping us (you) live a more grounded life. So join us this year as we continue to strive to help you plant your two feet of the ground with an appreciation for the world and the choices you have within you.
