Be at one
Eat well, exercise more and you will become one with your body. OK so that sounds a little out there but its true, once you start truly understanding how your body works you are more in tune with the mechanics of how it feels and when something goes wrong or feels wrong, you are able to pin point what contributed towards that feeling.
Sometimes we take for granted our bodies. We need reminding every now and then that it’s the only one we have. We can’t trade it in for a new one nor can we upgrade so it’s fundamentally important that we look after the one we are living in now. So how do we do this? We must eat well, exercise well and keep our bodies moving.
Does you body require an intervention?
Like a car, we need to be serviced, oiled and topped up with quality fuel in order to keep going. Ignore all of these and eventually our bodies will start to break down, cease up and require intervention in the way of medication to continue living. We invest so much in material items such as the latest technology, hoping these things are going to save us time and make us happy. Whilst we have no issues in this, we need to ensure we don’t lose the focus to invest as much time and money in ourselves.
How many medications are you on?
The average person over the age of 65+ is taking up to 8 medications for various medical conditions ranging from diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol. That scares the crap out of us. Our dependency on medications and the pharmaceutical industry needs to be reviewed, a lot of these conditions are diet related – change your diet and you dramatically change the outcome of your reliance on medications.
We have said it before and we will keep saying it, we truly believe you are what you eat. If you eat a diet high in saturated fats with little to no fresh fruit and vegetables your body is at some stage going to suffer. Eat a diet high in fresh fruit and vegetables, wholegrains with little to no processed foods; you body is going to flourish.
A challenge
We challenge you to feel the difference between eating a high carb meal compared to a fresh raw salad at lunch – which one makes you feel invigorated and which one makes you feel sluggish and tired? By becoming more in tune with our bodies we can understand further how food affects our moods and our energy levels.
Live life
Life is about feeling alive, alert and excited about the challenges that lie ahead each day. The more in tune you are with your body you will understand better when something doesn’t feel right and you will take the necessary precautions to seek help. You will also understand further how to feed your body with foods that nourishes to help provide adequate energy to keep your immune system running on all cylinders.
Eat well. Live well.
