Friday Favourites – Desserts.
Where to indulge.
Everyone loves a Friday and to make it even more fantastic we are launching Favourite Friday. Each Friday we will list our Top Five which will include but not be limited to food and fitness.
Five favourites; Vegan desserts
Cherry Darlings Bakehouse
“No dairy, no eggs you’d never know!
5 Aroha Terrace
Forestville SA 5035
www.cherrydarlingsbakehouse.com.au
From pies, sweet slices, cupcakes and cakes and unlimited vegan treats this Bakehouse might just leave you in a sugar coma but the road to the coma is worth it. You can also pre order cakes for birthday’s and special occasions so everyone including vegan and those with intolerances and allergies can have their cake and eat it too.
Urban Projuice
315 Montague Street
Albert Park VIC 3206
www.urbanprojuice.com.au
One of my local eateries and favourites south side of the river. Mostly vegan and thankfully all the cakes, muffins and raw desserts are vegan so a morning treat or afternoon indulgence is easy when eating at Urban Projuice. The stands outs are the muffins which change daily – from blueberry ice cream to blissful berry and the carrot cake, who can resist a creamy frosting? The menu is expansive with burgers, scrambled tofu, tacos and DIY spring rolls, you certainly won’t go hungry when dining at UP.
Raw Trader
“Decadence without guilt”
10 Sutherland Street
Melbourne VIC 3000
www.rawtrader.com.au
Gluten free, dairy free, vegan, sugar free, paleo, organic and raw The Raw Trader prides itself on offering the highest quality decadent products right here in the centre of Melbourne. From an almond snickers cake, apple crumble, Black Forest cake and rawgan wheels this cafe is a taste sensation.
Vegie Bar
380 Brunswick Street
Fitzroy VIC 3065
www.vegiebar.com.au
An institution when it comes to vegan and vegetarian food north side of the river. The menu offers are large selection of dishes inspired by the world over including raw/living food. The desserts are mainly raw and the cheesecake, who knew one could taste so good sans cream cheese? Be prepared to wait for a table if you visit during peak times, seems a lot of people rate the brilliance of this venue like we do but we promise you, the wait is worth it.
Transformer
99 Rose Street
Fitzroy VIC 3065
www.transformerfitzroy.com
Offering a huge range of plant-based meals or meals that can be adapted to vegan, Transformer would make any carnivore change their mind about how a vegan eats. Transformer is a sensory experience and the chocolate brownie for dessert; it’s warm, rich, comforting and vegan. Highly recommended and we promise you once you eat there once you will be dreaming and wanting to dine again the minute you leave the premises.
We are spoilt for choice when it comes to eateries and where we can find vegan desserts and decedent cakes and slices in and around Melbourne (& Adelaide too). I haven’t even touched on Mister Nice Guys Bake Shop, Serotonin Dealer, Holy Bowly SuperFood Bar, Happy Place, Shoku Iku, Pana Chocolate and Matcha Mylkbar – its endless but we had to start somewhere. We hope you love the goodness of vegan desserts as much as we do.
Look out for our post next Friday…what do you think our Five Favourties will be?
